About Tavern of St. Clair
Proprietors Doug and Jill Pope have always had a love for good times, good friends and great food. Since taking over operation of The Tavern of St. Clair they have increased in all three. Relatively new to the community, they arrived in Trussville Alabama five years ago before embarking on their Pell City endeavors. Since then they have added one more love to their list: southern hospitality.
Originally opened as Café Avante by Steve and Cheryl Switzer as an Italian restaurant and art gallery in 2002, this has since been a place to celebrate people and food. After their doors closed, Jay and Cindy Bordes reopened them as the Tavern of St. Clair in 2009 keeping the tradition of enjoyment and celebration alive. Now it's Doug and Jill's turn to sustain the custom.
Drawing from its past, today The Tavern of St. Clair boasts an Italian fusion menu from the hands and mind of Chef Clint Bullock along with a comparable wine list and specialty cocktails from Jill's own recipe book. Still adorned with local art work for sale, The Tavern also offers live music and memorable service. They continue to strive to maintain an atmosphere centered around people while focusing on exceptional unique cuisine.
